Our journey began with a Navy Chief turned culinary craftsman, driven by a passion for precision, quality, and the perfect brew. What started as a pursuit of exceptional coffee quickly became something more. In the old world, Vikings spoke of the keepers of the flame—those who guarded the fire that brought warmth, life, and gathering. Today, that spirit lives on in a new form: the Master of the Roast.

Through a close partnership with our trusted coffee craftsman, Ryan Daniels, the Master of the Roast at Flat Cap Coffee Roaster, creates bold, smooth, and distinctive blends. Each roast is carefully crafted with skill, tradition, and friendship, delivering a cup that is as strong in character as it is rich in flavor. This coffee wasn’t just the beginning—it became the foundation of everything we built.

From that foundation, Viking Café was born.

Once known as Island Café, our Chesapeake café transformed into something stronger, bolder, and built with purpose. Fueled by our love for great coffee and even greater food, we raised our axes, fired up the ovens, and created a place where every meal is made with grit, heart, and handcrafted flavor.

We are a family-run, veteran-owned café rooted in strength, hospitality, and community. Led by Chef Olson—a Navy veteran and culinary raider—the kitchen delivers bold favorites like our signature Viking Blood Coffee, the legendary North Wind Chili Bread Bowl, and rotating Chef’s Raid Specials served hot and hearty.
